ANZAC Ceremony

On Monday the 14th of April, 10 children went with Mrs Bevis and Mr Papuni to an Anzac ceremony at Clive Square Memorial Garden, to place white crosses in the ground in memory of the soldiers that sacrificed their lives in World War 1.

22 schools participated in the event. Each one of us were given 1 of the 208 white crosses to place in the ground. The 208th cross was in memory of all the unknown soldiers.

The children that went from our school were: Kayla, Isabelle, Declan, Kayla CM, Te Ao, Corban, Kiki, Thomas, Eloise and Detroit.

It was very heart touching and we were all very honoured to be there. We had to hold the cross on an angle with our left hand on the top and our right hand on the bottom of the cross. Each of the crosses had a name on it in memory of that soldier. Two of the names that our school got were C Williams and G Whittle.

We had a great time, though the weather was terrible, but we figured the soldiers in the war would have to fight in rain for years on end.
