Food for Thought

Last week the seniors participated in the healthy eating programme, ‘Food for Thought.’

We had a nutritionist, Nova, come in and teach us about the food pyrimad and we looked at the labels on food and learnt how to read them.

On Wednesday we visited the supermarket and completed a range of activities based around different food groups and the healthiness of them.

It was great fun and we learnt how to make healthier options with our eating.

Little bits of vanilla ice-cream can be good.

This group is finding what bread is healthy everyday bread and what is occasional bread.

Mmmmm, yummy snacks, but are they healthy?

In this photo this group is trying to read the labels of fizzy drinks to see how healthy they drink are.

Zoe, Ruby, Te Ahu and Nick are looking at the drinks sections finding what's healthy and what's not!

This group is looking in the dairy section to find out what is the healthiest product and what is the least healthiest.

They got thirsty while studying the milk. Nanoka is looking to see which is the healthiest milk.

They were licking their lips while studying the food. Unfortunatley they discovered it is unhealthy and in the eat least group.

At the supermarket we had to find at least 5 fruit and 5 vegetables in each colour section. The colours were Red, Yellow/Orange, Brown/White, Green, and Blue/Purple.

    1. Good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure you'll make lots of new friends. We've all missed you, especially Blake. The restrictions sound interesting, I'm sure you'll get used to their ways fast enough. You'll love all that ICT. Enjoy tomorrow and hear from you again soon :) Mrs Colliss

    2. Sorry for not answering so quickly. I am really busy doing homework and some research on What Is a Culture? Dad has started doing his job properly (as in, taking over the person who left ). Today was actually really fun at Sunny hills School, because I made 6 more friends and got 100% in my basic facts test.
Note: At school we do basic facts tests nearly everyday.(isn't that awesome!)
Can you let Blake talk with me IF he wants to
      Hear from you again hopefully!
